Estimation of vitamin by potassium iodated method
Principle: - The chemical assay of vitamin C depends on the marked reducing properties of the vitamin. In this method potassium iodated in acidic condition is used as oxidizing agent. In presence of high conc. of HCI (exceeding 4N) the iodine produced us oxidized by iodated to iodine caution High conc. Of 1 ions leads to the formation of ICl which is stabilized against hydrolysis by the HCI
1 ml of M 1100 KIO3 == 0.00352 gm of vitamin C
