New test RT-PCR technique which can detect 11 gastroenteritis causative organisms in one test

New test for detection of causative organism in gastroenteritis which can detect of eleven causative organisms in one test in one time.

There are many causes for infective gastroenteritis, it is caused by parasitic, viral, and bacterial infection , and some bacterial toxins, which result in to inflammation of GI tract including lower intestine and bowel, causing diarrhea and vomiting and loss of water from body and dehydration , which can be fetal if not treated in time precisely in case of infant , children and old age person.

US FDA has approved a test which can identify eleven causative organisms in one time , from single test.

The xTAG Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel (GPP) , test is capable of identifying following bacterial and viral , parasitic inactions from single sample . This will save doctors time in deciding the line of drug treatment for particular infective microorganism causing gastroentrities. This test kit is manufactured by Luminex, Inc. of Austin.

xTAG Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel (GPP) work:
DNA fragments from the samples are prepared in to single strand nucleic acid and they are subjected to RT PCR (Reverse Transcription polymerase chain reaction) technique with the small amount of nucleic acid from causative organism is amplified and detected with Reverse Transcription polymerase chain reaction technique.

In Reverse Transcription polymerase chain reaction a single strand RNA is first used to make a complimentary copy of single strand DNA and then a another c DNA strand which are polymerized in to DNA double helix.

Following are the organisms which can be detected through the test.

To confirm the presence of the positive result with other confirmatory test is required to rule out any false positive result.

Virus that causes gastroenteritis : Rotavirus, norovirus, adenovirus.

Bacterias That causeses gastroentrities : Campylobacter jejuni , Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae. Clostridium difficile , in patient who were on antibiotic may get gastroentries due to Staphylococcus aureus.

Parasite which causes gastroenteritis :
Giardia lamblia , Entamoeba histolytica , Cryptosporidium .

Drugs which elevets the risk of getting gastroentries are

Proton pump inhibitors : Omeprazole, lansoprazole ect.
H2 antagonists : Ranitidine, Famotidine, Nizatidine, Cimetidine,

Other aliments which also can cause gastroentries are : Urinary tract infection, appendicitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
